Me and Steve

Laura first told me about Steve in the Fall of 1974. She said he was coming over to pick her up and she wasn't sure if she really liked him. She said "I don't know about him, I don't know if you'll think he's cute, I'm not sure." I told her when he came to the door I'd answer it. Well, the doorbell rang and I ran to open and there stood this guy with the brightest eyes I've ever seen, long hair and a beautiful smile. I can't remember if I even let him in the house....I ran to Laura and said "Are you crazy, if you don't go out with him, I will." The rest as we know is history. We had so many fun times together, playing games and cards. One night we were sitting around doing the crazy things most of us did in the '70's (actually we looked like a scene from That '70's Show)and Steve and I began making up names for each other. He called me Cheese Nose and my name for him was Jim Wob. Well, Cheese and Wob stuck.... He wasn't my brother-in-law, he was my brother. We loved him so much. When my husband, Bob, passed away in Oct '07, he was right there for me and especially my kids. In fact, there is a picture of Steve with my son, Jason and Steve is wearing a shirt that says "Who are all these kids and why are they calling me Dad." He was such a special man. He loved Laura, Ashley, Danny and Jimmy so much. He loved hanging around with the kids which he was able to do up until his last night here on earth. I was right there with them and I thank God for that awesome memory. So Steve, when it's my turn, I know you'll greet me with a "Hey Cheese" and I'll definately say "Hey Wob" I'll always love you.......
